Western Digital 2TB Elements Portable External Hard Drive

Today we are going to look at the Western Digital 2TB external hard drive as our cool tech gadget of the Western Digital 2TB Elements Portable External Hard Driveweek. There is a somewhat selfish reason way are looking at this external hard drive today; we had to buy one so we thought we go ahead and review it.

First of all, for the price the Western Digital 2TB we though was a high quality external hard disk. They offer other sizes such as a 1TB, 3TB or 4TB; we decided to go with the 2TB for our needs. In retrospect we probably should have gone for the 4TB but we didn’t.

The Western Digital external hard drive features both USB 2.0 and 3.0 compatibility and really fast data transfers. As usual you get the quality of a Western Digital product.

This external hard disk has over 2600 reviews on Amazon with a 4.5 out of 5 star rating which further reinforces our opinion of the product. We certainly agree with the ratings.

We searched the web for other reviews to see how others rated this product that we liked so much. CNet ranked it 4 out of 5 and HDDMag gave it a ranking of 3.6 out of 5. We were a little surprised by the HDDMag rating.

It appears HDDMag faulted it because there was no free backup or security software included. They also thought the three year warranty was too short. We understand their perspective but really don’t see these as a reason to change our opinion of the product.

It is not only for your computer, it also works on the Xbox and PS4. Just in case you are wondering.

In Windows 10 it was pretty much plug and play, can’t really tell out about other operating systems since we did not try it out on those but we would not expect any major issues. The product seems pretty universal and designed for multiple platforms.

Although we did not have any issues with the USB cables there were a couple of reviews we saw where people had issues with the cable the drive came with. If you run into any issues where the driver appears to be unresponsive that would be a good place to start in your trouble shooting.

Below are some comments from the Western Digital website at www.wd.com

They do a better job than us telling you about their product.
